The Positive Side of Fear

I have seen FEAR defined as false evidence appearing real, in reference to fear being a negative attribute when placed side by side to the idea of ‘FAITH’. I do not doubt this in anyway but I want us to look at the positive side of fear in one tiny example and I hope you would follow me diligently.

Fear according to the dictionary has been defined as ‘a distressing emotion aroused by impending danger, evil, pain etc whether the threat is real or imagined’. I don’t want to agree with the majority of people who believe fear is negative.

I believe fear can be negative and it can be positive it all depends on how you apply it. I mean most religions talk about a fear i.e. a reverential awe especially towards God so fear shouldn’t be deemed negative per say.

If we are honest with ourselves we would appreciate the fact that fear is an instinct that is inherent in us as humans but hasn’t been harnessed in the right way and we have not allowed it guide us in the positive light. Most times fear has guided us in the negative light which is why generally fear is looked at as a negative state and not the other way round. In fact I know of a set of people that are so certain fear is negative that they would rather not use the word ‘fear’ but feel more comfortable using other synonyms of ‘fear’ so they don’t come across as exhibiting a lack of faith i.e. uneasy, concerned, panic, phobia, distress, dread, anxious, shock etc.

Ok so you ask me what the positive side of fear is.

Now let’s look closely at the definition one more time... ‘a distressing emotion aroused by impending danger, evil, pain etc whether the threat is real or imagined’. The active part in play in this definition which causes fear to arise in YOU is an impending danger, evil, or pain. This means at the point before fear arises, you have been notified of a threat to harm you irrespective of the fact that it could be real or imagined.

Now let’s talk on the imagined threat. The fact that the notification you are working with could be imagined and I stand corrected means it is either of two things

 1. That the notification is from your spirit and the simplest way I can explain ‘from your spirit’ especially if you are not a Christian is that you just know that you know that you know (×100 %) that danger is approaching and so this kind of imagined threat translates to a real threat because everything which happens in the physical has either been dealt with or left unaddressed in the spiritual. This is because we are spirit beings whether you accept it or not. Ok so let’s drop church for a bit! Lol.

2. That the notification you are working with comes from other sources that are questionable.  Now, because of its questionable nature you find that generally people walk themselves into a very deep box with a ladder being provided to climb out from the box but ironically the fear has so blinded their eyes that they don’t see the ladder. They therefore remain in the box for a very long time and become limited from exploring what is outside of the box. I guess this is where the acronym FALSE EVIDENCE APPEARING REAL (F.E.A.R) comes into play. This is where to talk faith but for now I don’t want to talk about Nos. 2 but on Nos.1 which is more certain in the sense that harm is really going to come to you.

Many times we are faced with situations in our homes, offices, with friends and relations. We may be lured to act in a certain way or do a wrong in the hidden because we are not being watched. Excuses can be given or justifications may have already been provided to serve as evidence if eventually the wrong is uncovered. But I beg to say that warning signals of an impending danger, evil or pain which may occur if you decide to be lured are made available to each of us at every given time if we are truly observant.  The warning signals are wrapped up in the emotion of fear, if you like you may call it that ‘inner caution’ but it is fear all the same.  The threat at this point may not be real but it is imagined and if it falls under Nos.1 then you can take it to the bank because you will know that you know that you know (×100%) that harm will come your way if you don’t allow fear to guide you in the positive light.

So Let us now look at the example of a fire.  Fire has its good side and has its bad side. Fire burns no doubt but fire also refines. While the refiner is pleased to put a piece of metal into fire to refine it, the refiner will be the first to run away from the fire if he calculates that an explosion is about to take place which would burn his dear skin. This is because fire is not meant for the skin. It will burn...fire burns and it will disfigure you! Ok so you are in a situation where you have been given information from your spirit that an impending danger is approaching and your spirit tells you it is one that would burn you and fear rises in you. Do you run or do you talk faith?

The positive side of fear says run....

write...

Vision is to be written down so anyone who reads it can run with it including the writer when he eventually forgets. You can translate this principle to a 'to do' list. Most times we have things we intend to finalise for the day, month or year but we fail to achieve them because they are not written down.

When you write thoughts down you easily see the flaws in them. Assessing your motives /rationale behind your thoughts is one thing a pen and paper would do for you.

 Write those thoughts down !NOW...

...there is always a better way to do what you think you have become a master of
