THE MOTHER
From a seed not seen
The fevers begin, yet a secret
From a seed not seen, the bulge gives her away
She is happy, but her happiness comes with mixed feelings
She is thankful, but her grateful heart tells her she must wear strength as her garment and grace as her shoes
Then the mind battle begins, the uncertainties set in
Am I still beautiful? She whispers
You are beautiful
Beautiful to behold
The one who carries LIFE inside of her is indeed beautiful
For through her generations are sustained
Through her kingdoms arise
Am I still the centre of his world?
You will become the centre of another's world
The centre around which worlds would grow
The centre around which destinies are carved
And so the seed now transformed through time comes urgently urgently urgently knocking at her gate
But for a moment her dignity is taken
Dignity she no longer holds on to
The shame of nakedness no longer matters...
For The one who would call her mother is HERE!
And so it was recorded that The Mother was born on the same day The Child is given
In a split second her life changed forever
Although scarred , she must call them beautiful
Beautiful scars she sings , scars standing as a witness that she fought and laid her life down for another to come into existence
Although months after, pain stretching and testing her patience remains
she must call it sweet pain
Pain of what would set her apart
Pain she must bear in quietness and trust
The numerous sleepless nights
When she is left alone to nurture
When she longs for help but help although present is asleep
When even her struggle to stay sane goes unseen
And yet she must awaken early in the morning and still be a source of hope
Only this mother understands the tears she must shed in her fight to see balance in her home
Her definition of luxury changes
Sickness becomes a luxury she cannot afford
In sickness she cannot find rest
For the one who calls her mother knows only that safety, warmth, love, care, protection and other needs are met in her arms.
Mother cannot be sick
Mother must smile always irrespective of any injustice she goes through yet the eyes never lie for they are windows, you only need to look closely
Mother must come out radiant even when all she wants is to be left alone to rest
Mother must look good acting as a beautiful cover for her home
Mother must curtail her fears even when all screams inside of her
Weakness is another luxury she cannot afford
Mother must stay strong
Her focus changes without her even noticing
Her needs are no longer as important to her as before that
It would take God to show HER MAN that this is the time for him to sow in her the seed of true love and affection
It would take God to show HER MAN that this is the time to give himself up for her as she has given herself up for the one who would sustain HIS name.
Yet where HER MAN refuses to see, mother continues and gives all in her ....and when the reservoirs in her are close to empty because replenishment isn't received as at when due , her creator steps in to remind her that she carries within her the ability to reproduce anything she desires. And so mother draws from the very little within her and continues to pour out to the one who calls
her mother, and as she does more grace, wisdom, strength, and patience Is given unto her. No wonder in spite of everything, mother must bears all things..
she suddenly must become a doctor and a nurse, although not trained as one her intuition becomes the critical source of every diagnosis
She diagnoses a cry to be one of hunger and she feeds
A cry of discomfort and she soothes
A cry for attention and she cuddles
She suddenly must become a lawyer and a judge, an arbiter of justice
A pastor and a preacher for her words resound even deeper into the spirit than any other
A teacher and a disciplinarian that the one who calls her mother strays not and become a thorn in the flesh
ignorance is another bliss she can not afford
For mother must know it all...
Oh don't you dare misrepresent her
Don't you dare disrespect her
Oh don't you dare cause her pain, hurt or scorn her
For the giver of life can also take life
For The giver of life has within her the power to build and to destroy
Give unto every mother her dues
And so today with all the life within me, I celebrate a mother,
I celebrate your mother,
I celebrate my mother
I celebrate 'the mother'
I celebrate myself.
